Pre-series
While much is not known about Laura's life before the series, it is known that she was in a very dark place before having Chrissy, and dated Satan for six months prior to giving birth to her. In "Everybody's Dying for the Weekend", Jimmy, a monster from a pocket dimension, tells Darlene that there was a fiasco at her Quinceanera with her aunt named Suzie. At some point, she likely had to learn Witchcraft for her survival, in order to protect herself and Chrissy after fleeing from Satan.
Laura was tricked by Satan thirteen years before moving to Delaware. He got her pregnant and she left him to raise her daughter Chrissy as a single mother, and as an ordinary girl.
