The young woman's name was Mary Jane Featherstone, but everyone called her "Polly." She eventually received a commission as an officer in the Salvation Army from General William Booth. Smith did what he could to work near her, and in the coming years a romance bloomed between them.

He was one the leading figures of the Pentecostal revival movement at the beginning half of the twentieth century. Wigglesworth preached God’s grace, and thousands came to faith in Christ at his meetings.
