Matthew Adam Garber (25 March 1956 – 13 June 1977) [ 1][ 2] was a British child actor, most notable as Michael Banks in the 1964 film Mary Poppins. His other screen credits include The Three Lives of Thomasina (1963) and The Gnome-Mobile (1967), appearing alongside actress Karen Dotrice in all three films they made for Walt Disney Pictures .
Matthew Garber played Michael Banks in the 1964 classic musical Mary Poppins, alongside Karen Dotrice as Jane. He only acted in two more films before disappearing from show business and dying of a rare pancreatic disease at 21.
Matthew Garber is best known for playing a role in one of the most popular musical movies to date: Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Garber played the role of Michael Banks, and it was just his second acting role at the time.
