Max von Sydow (April 10, 1929 — March 8, 2020) was a Swedish–French actor who starred in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens as Lor San Tekka. He was previously involved in a Lucasfilm production when he played Sigmund Freud in an episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles .

He had a 70-year career in European and American cinema, television, and theatre, appearing in more than 150 films and several television series in multiple languages.
