  2. Apr 18, 2023 · Missouri Botanical Garden. In 1896, Olmsted Brothers became the first landscape architects hired to work on the Missouri Botanical Garden, calling for a comprehensive arrangement of plant material and the removal of the Linnaean House, then being used as an orangery.

  3. Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the oldest botanical institutions in the United States and a National Historic Landmark. It is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In 1983, the botanical garden was added as the fourth subdistrict of the Metropolitan Zoological Park and Museum District.

  4. Today, more than 150 years after opening, the Garden is a National Historic Landmark and a center for science and conservation, education and horticultural display. Peter Wyse Jackson, Ph.D., a globally renowned botanist, is the Gardens president.
