Moses Harry Horwitz (June 19, 1897 – May 4, 1975), better known by his stage name Moe Howard, was an American comedian and actor. He is best known as the leader and straight man of the Three Stooges, the farce comedy team who starred in motion pictures and television for four decades.
Moe Howard was the leader and writer of the comedy trio The Three Stooges, who starred in over 250 films and 190 shorts. He was born in 1897 in Brooklyn, New York, and died in 1975 in Los Angeles, California.

Moe Howard was the first of the Three Stooges to enter show business. He attempted to launch a stage career during the 1910s, acting in everything from burlesque revues to Shakespearean plays, but found little success until 1922, when he formed a comedy act with his older brother, Shemp, and longtime friend Ted Healy.
