Jun 14, 2015 · A window in time, literally. I captured this view through the clock face at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris on the fifth floor, in the North-East corner of the museum. The space behind the clock face in the North-West corner is a restaurant and I don't find the view through it as pleasing.
The clock is situated on the highest point of the museum, facing the River Seine. Its large size and elegant design make it a notable feature of the building. Originally, the clock served the railway station, helping travelers keep track of time for their departures and arrivals.

Nov 14, 2023 · Speaking of clocks, my favorite part in the Musée d’Orsay is undoubtedly the clock face window on the 5th floor. If you stand just right you can see the Sacré-Cœur on the hill of Montmartre in the distance. I find that the most beautiful parts of the Louvre are on the outside.
May 11, 2015 · The 24 hour day and the 12 hour clock-face became standards of time-keeping and are featured prominently on the outside of the station. Somewhat overlooked today, the large clocks at d'Orsay are visible from inside and possibly a novelty for those who walk by or eat in the c afé on the 5th level.
