Brothers Peter and Andrew Kiewit formed Kiewit Brothers in 1884 in Omaha, Nebraska. They began with brick foundation contracts. Commercial construction soon followed. 1991 Kiewit was awarded its first design-build transportation mega-project — the $802 million San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor in Orange County, California.
