Poseidon flips back over, and across the water, the survivors look on as she sinks stern-first deep into the ocean. After the survivors fire a flare, two helicopters and several ships arrive to rescue them, having tracked the location of the Poseidon's GPS beacon.
We go below the water where Robert is and he is running out of breath. As he runs out of breath he pushes a button that reverses the propellers. He then dies. The group figures out what he did and Dylan throws something in the tubes to make the propellers explode.
How does the movie end? Although the turn-off button for the propeller blades is broken, Robert manages to reverse the spin of the propellers in the bow thrusters, creating suction instead of blasting the propeller room with air.
