Located in the heart of the theater district in Manhattan, Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) was created in 1990 to meet the needs of two groups of students – those demonstrating a strong talent and passion for the performing arts and those who were pursuing professional work in the arts.
The Professional Performing Arts School, colloquially known as PPAS, is a public middle and high school specializing in the performing arts, located in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
The program offers classes to middle school, Drama and Musical Theater students. School of American Ballet SAB alumni fill the ranks of the New York City Ballet and other leading U.S. and international ballet companies.

In partnership with the theater company Waterwell, middle school students receive 90 minutes daily of acting, dance, and voice classes. Our curriculum provides students with the artistic and personal skills to be leaders in the field and in whatever profession they choose to pursue.
