The first is when John sees Ice (Eriq La Salle in his first movie), flanked by Fats (Melvin Plowden, in his only movie) and Moon (Kadeem Hardison, scenes deleted from BEAT STREET).
Plot. Rappin' John Hood (Van Peebles), an ex-convict, attempts to save his neighborhood from developers and hoodlums. Around the same time, one of the hoodlums' girlfriend, Dixie, persuades him to audition for a rap recording contract. Their interactions develop into a relationship.
John Hood, (Peebles) has just got out of prison and he's headed back to the old neighborhood. In serving time for an all-to-nice crime of necessity, of course. John heads back onto the old street and is greeted by kids dogs old ladies and his peer homeys as they dance and sing all along the way.
An ex-con and break-dancer helps save a neighborhood from a greedy developer while trying to win a rap contest. Rappin' is a film directed by Joel Silberg, written by Adam Friedman and Robert J. Litz, produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus and starring Mario Van Peebles.
