Information. Welcome to St Kieran’s College school web site. As the oldest Catholic secondary school in Ireland, we have a proud tradition and have been central to the education of the people of the locality and the diocese of Ossory for over two hundred years.

St Kieran’s College in Kilkenny, which is Ireland’s oldest secondary school having been established in 1782 after the initial relaxing of some of the Penal Laws against Catholics, recently launched plans to facilitate past pupils in reconnecting with the College and with one another.
/ Architect: William Deane Butler. Saint Kieran’s College was founded as the diocesan school in 1782 and was one of the first of its kind in the country. Between 1836 and 1845 a new permanent building was constructed to designs by William Deane Butler who also designed Saint Mary’s Cathedral.
