The First Texan is a 1956 American CinemaScope and Technicolor western film directed by Byron Haskin and starring Joel McCrea, Felicia Farr and Jeff Morrow. [2] Produced by Walter Mirisch, it was shot in CinemaScope and distributed by Allied Artists. It is set during the Texas Revolution of the 1830s.
Opening and ending cast credits differ in order. Although a September 1956 Hollywood Reporter news item credited McElbert Moore as co-writer of the theme song for The First Texan, only Roy Webb was credited onscreen. Moore's contribution to the film has not been confirmed. Actor Jody McCrea was Joel McCrea's son.

Nov 30, 2009 · The best portrayal of Texas geography was in the 2004 movie The Alamo, John Lee Hancock succeeded in filming in territory that actually resembled where the main events of 1835 - 1836 took place. And he presented the Battle of San Jacinto pretty accurately as I understand it occurred.
