The Outcasts is an American Western television series, appearing on ABC in the 1968-69 season. The series stars Don Murray and Otis Young . It is most notable for being the first television Western with an African American co-star.
Sep 30, 2009 · If The Outcasts were to be released on DVD (which is unlikely) the unused footage would make for an interesting special feature. But in 1968, it would have been all but useless. Unless, of course, someone thought it could be inserted back into the episodes for foreign syndication.
Mon, Feb 10, 1969. Earl and Jamal capture a black man wanted for murder. The man says he'll never get a fair trial because he's black. A wealthy rancher holds great influence over townspeople. It was his foreman who was killed, and he is convinced the black man did it.
Seen and collected today on VHS and DVD, the well-written series continually garners new appreciation and respect, perhaps making it even more popular with new fans than it was initially. Otis Young, 69, died October 12, 2001, of a stroke.
