The Skeleton Key is set in Lousiana where twenty five year old Caroline Ellis (Kate Hudson) works as a nurse, she applies for a job at a large plantation just outside New Orleans where the owner Ben Devereaux (John Hurt) has just suffered a stroke & is paralysed & unable to speak.
