Jun 27, 2019 · CT scans are a quick and noninvasive way to get images of what’s going on inside a patient’s body. Doctors use CT (computed tomography) for diagnosis and treatment of the following: Muscle and bone disorders. Cancer and other tumors. Infections. Blood clots. Internal injuries and bleeding. Accurate imaging leads to more effective treatment.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your exam. You may be given a gown to wear during the scan. Metal objects including jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures and hairpins may affect the CT images and should be left at home or removed prior to your exam. You may also be asked to remove hearing aids and removable dental work.
