Mar 20, 2014 · Bill Ward began his career in comics doing layouts for Fawcett's CAPTAIN MARVEL (for artist C.C. Beck), and was soon drawing his own comics, mostly for QUALITY COMICS, where he drew features for BLACKHAWK, BULLETMAN, DOLLMAN, and most notably his own creation, TORCHY.
Bill Ward was an American illustrator known for his pin-ups, erotic art, and work in the comic book industry. Ward penciled pages for Blackhawk and other mainstream comics throughout the 1940s, and in 1946, created the oft-undressed comic book character Torchy.
