Building Permit Application. When is a Building Permit Not Required. For those without a computer, the Building Department has a computer available for public use. Department personnel can assist with applying for a permit, Monday - Friday, 8AM to 4PM.
Generally, you need to obtain a building permit from the City whenever you construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, remove, improve, convert, or demolish a building or other structure. A building could be anything from a tool shed, a house, or a commercial structure.
To schedule an inspection, call 860-584-6215. An approved building plan must be available on site (minimum 24 hour notice). Any inspection deemed necessary to determine compliance with the building codes & other regulations are enforced by the Building Department.
