Perhaps the quintessential show from the Golden Age of TV westerns, this series ran from 1957 to 1965 and it had a simple but compelling format. Each week it told the story of one of the travelers on an 1870's "wagon train" making its way across the American West.

Contrary to bkoganbing's review, Herman is a Belgian horse, not a Clydesdale. Mr. Biggers says that he found out Herman's breed some time after he took him in as a foal after being the only survivor of a burning barn. Due to his size and age, Herman had a hard time keeping up with the wagon train.
