He follows Tarek and his partner-in-crime, Omar (Mohammed Chamas), as they wreak havoc across Beirut and record foolish videos on Omar’s Super 8 camera.
"West Beirut" is a plotless, non-story, non-documentary, meandering slice-of-life flick about a teenage boy's life in the early days of the Lebanese civil war when Beirut became divided into East and West.
Two friends, Tarek and Omar, suffer during the Lebanese civil war. Conflicts arise when they decide to cross from West to East, crossing the Muslim-Christian line that divides Beirut.

Plot. In April 1975, a young Lebanese boy named Tarek witnesses a massacre of Palestinians by the Phalangists. Shortley thereafter, the civil war breaks out; Beirut is partitioned along a line separating the Muslim - Christian mixed West Beirut from the quasi-Christian East Beirut.
