I always thought it was weird that such a simple, little, unknown site for game trailers got so big so quickly. I loved the retrospectives and their reviews often seemed pretty fair. I haven't been there in years but it's still strange that it's shutting down.

Historically, we've seen all sorts of great publications close down from Joystiq to Nintendo Power, but that doesn't make any loss hurt any less. GameTrailers were a driving force in the field, and they will be missed by readers and peers alike.
