Sep 29, 2020 · Jarrah takes a superb polish but there are a few things to watch for. If you oil jarrah you will need more coats than you are used to. I usually apply four coats of hand rubbed oil on blackwood but would put six on a jarrah piece of the same design.
What I was thinking initially was to use Tung oil, but I haven't been able to find any examples of Jarrah being finished like this, so it got me thinking it may be a bad idea. If anyone could offer any advice I would be very grateful.
When purchasing Jarrah, be sure you’re getting the real deal – ‘Pacific Jarrah’ is not genuine Jarrah timber at all, but rather a South American or Indonesian lookalike species, Manilkara bidentata.
