Feb 2, 2015 · At first glance, the story of “Umrika” seems far removed from the world most of us inhabit—set in the 1980s, in the distant Indian village of Jitvapur, whose inhabitants communicate in an unfamiliar Hindi dialect.
The story is set in middle-of-nowhere in 80's India when life was simpler, and quainter. I thoroughly enjoyed the sets and the lighting where the city scenes were shot. The movie, while serious, also drizzles just the right amount of humor every now and then to keep you interested.
