     The main difference will come from underlying frameworks. In case of Mahout it is Hadoop MapReduce and in case of MLib it is Spark. To be more specific - from the difference in per job overhead If your ML algorithm mapped to the single MR job - main difference will be only startup overhead, which is dozens of seconds for Hadoop MR, and let say 1 second for Spark. So in case of model training it is not that important. Things will be different if your algorithm is mapped to many jobs. In this case we will have the same difference on overhead per iteration and it can be game changer. Lets assume that we need 100 iterations, each needed 5 seconds of cluster CPU.

     • On Spark: it will take 100*5 + 100*1 seconds = 600 seconds.
     • On Hadoop: MR (Mahout) it will take 100*5+100*30 = 3500 seconds.

     In the same time Hadoop MR is much more mature framework then Spark and if you have a lot of data, and stability is paramount - I would consider Mahout as serious alternative.

     As you mentioned in your question, Jenkins is a platform to allow continuous integration - in simple words automation of procedures involved in development process. One of its common uses is to allow quick deployments of your code to your server whether if it's development or production.

     Jenkins also has lots of plugins that allows you to do variety of tasks. For example, let's say you have a team of developers that work on a project. Now, you don't want them to waste time on manual build and deploy their code to the test server. Jenkins is very handy in those cases, since using a simple UI, you can setup a build and deploy process that includes repository checkout (svn, git and more), build process (ANT for example if used), SCP / SSH transfer and remote command and deploy it on your server (Tomcat for example).

     Meaning, your developers, just need to login and press the build button... everything will happen behind the scene - mostly, it keeps the standards of the work process.

     This is one simple example, but keep in mind that it's very versatile and you can do a lot with it.

     Tomcat on the other hand is a JAVA servlet container, that run your JAVA webapp (a quite good one if I may add).

     basically in your scenario:

     in this case, you don't need to use:

     redisTemplate.opsForHash().put(key, hashKey, jsonRedisValue)-

     instead you should use:

     redisTemplate.opsForValue().put(key, jsonRedisValue)-

     here is a very good example for you to understand the scenario where opsForHash making sense:

     first you must understand that hashes in redis is perfect representation for objects, so you don't need to serialize the object, but just store the object in the format of multiple key-value pairs, like for a userid=1000, the object has properties: username/password/age, you can simply store it on redis like this:

     redisTemplate.opsForHash().put("userid:1000", "username", "Liu Yue")redisTemplate.opsForHash().put("userid:1000", "password", "123456")redisTemplate.opsForHash().put("userid:1000", "age", "32")-

     later on if you want to change the password, just do this:

     redisTemplate.opsForHash().put("userid:1000", "password", "654321")-

     and the corresponding cmd using redis-cli:

     I haven't explore too much the fundamental of how it implement hashes operation, but I think the difference between key and hashkey is quite obvious based on the documentation, key is just like the other redis key, normal string, hashkey is for the purpose of optimize the storage of the mutliple key-value pairs, so I guess there must be some kind of hash algorithm behind to ensure optimal memory storage and faster query and update.

     The Apache Kafka Binder implementation maps each destination to an Apache Kafka topic. The consumer group maps directly to the same Apache Kafka concept. Partitioning also maps directly to Apache Kafka partitions as well.
