The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are based on the "Framework K–12 Science Education" that was created by the National Research Council. They have three dimensions that are integrated in instruction at all levels.
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) provide a framework for science education from kindergarten through 12th grade. They emphasize engaging in scientific practices and applying knowledge to real-world problems.
The NGSS and other Framework-based standards ask educators and students to approach teaching, learning, and monitoring student progress in new and different ways, grounded in students making sense of phenomena and solving problems using the three dimensions of science together.
