Apr 17, 2023 · Rather than a science fiction film, Andromeda is mostly a drama about a guy in therapy trying to work through issues from his childhood. It’s not what anyone would expect from the poster or the plot description, and it’s not a particularly interesting substitution either.

The team behind Andromeda primarily did the Omega DLC and the multiplayer for ME3, then were suddenly given the keys to the engine for the next installment. Pressure was insanely high, resources may have been infinite but so too were the extent of the EA expectations.

What is truly tragic about Andromeda is that it is a show that never realized its full potential. This is due to the powers that be and their decision to remove Wolfe from his post as head writer of the show.
However, the acting was really bad and the lines were very justify which made this movie a below average sci-fi. It had a lot of potential with the concept of traveling in your mind and inside a different reality and universe.

Mass Effect Andromeda truly does feel like the spiritual sequel to Mass Effect 1 in a way that neither 2 or 3 was. But that's not why I find Mass Effect Andromeda to be so tragic. No that comes down to how much sheer potential there is in the Andromeda setting with everything they set up for the future.
