When the movie theater at the Mills closed during covid, the company ripped out all of the screens and projectors and sold/moved them. There's a video of some people exploring the theaters between when the original movie theater company moved out and now when the new one is in there and the screens are just gone.
May 12, 2020 · New theater complex which includes IMAX opened on July 14, 2005. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It was announced in May 2020 that it will be permanently closed. However it was taken over by GQT Movies and reopened March 24, 2021 as the Pittsburgh Mills Cinemas (Tarentum). The Dolby Theater at the AMC Waterfront is the almost certainly the best multiplex screen in Pittsburgh in terms of projection and sound (Rango’s Giant Theater at the Science Center has a far larger screen, and terrific projection/sound, but it usually doesn’t play first run films like Ford Vs. Ferrari).
This is definitely inaccurate. Mills was always an outlet mall company and Ross already had many of their high end stores before Mills opened. They never intended to have high end shopping. It was more to attract the Allegheny Valley region than it was for North or South of Pittsburgh/Pittsburgh proper.
