I have a tow bar and a ton and half truck, but am needing to know several different things: 1) can it be towed with a tow bar? If so... 2) do I need to drop the driveshaft? 3) Can trailer be applied to air brakes?

  2. Apr 13, 2020 · My towtruck driver disconnected my drive shaft at the rear diff and used heavy duty bungee cords to secure it outa the way. He said they do that for all tows rather than risk any damage to the drivetrain.

  4. Can anyone tell me if I will be able to tow a Class A cutaway school bus on the ground using a tow bar? I will be transporting the buses and I want to drive one bus and tow the other behind it. I will probably use some kind of tow bar and will disconnect the drive shaft on the bus that I will be towing.

  5. The disconnect is via a metal cable. It mounts under the driver's front seat. Pull the cable and it disengages the slip ring that locks the shaft together. They want you to have the engine running when reengaging, but I always just rocked the vehicle an it reengaged.

  6. When towing your 2WD/RWD vehicle, the driveline must be disconnected prior to prevent damage to the transmission. This requires mechanical service every time you want to tow, which is not convenient! Quick Disconnects, or REMCO units, are a simple solution to this issue.
