Starring Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James in the title roles, the series premiered in 90-minute episodes as part of the wheel series NBC Mystery Movie, in rotation with Columbo and McCloud.
McMillan And Wife was one of the three original rotating elements in the NBC Mystery Movie – the other two were Columbo and McCloud. Rock Hudson starred as San Francisco Police Commissioner Stewart “Mac” McMillan with Susan Saint James as his beautiful and bright wife, Sally.
Helping Mac solve the murder at hand (though not without resistance from Mac) was his highly intelligent young wife Sally, played by Susan Saint James. A Thin Man for the '70s, Once Upon a Dead Man promptly spawned a spin-off TV series, which premiered September 29, 1971, as McMillan and Wife.
