- Many pieces from the mid to late 20s have just a shape number marked with crayons. Since the 1930s, the company has used a few Roseville incised marks as well as raised marks, with and without “U.S.A” until its shutdown in 1954.

The Roseville Pottery Company was an American art pottery manufacturer in the 19th and 20th centuries. Along with Rookwood Pottery and Weller Pottery, it was one of the three major art potteries located in Ohio around the turn of the 20th century.
Jul 24, 2016 · In 1940, many of the pieces began to be marked: Roseville, U.S.A., with the corresponding number for that piece. These marks tend to be raised. Here are some examples: Roseville, U.S.A. 63-8″ – this mark is on the bottom of my pink peony vase. The bottom of one of the Clematis pieces.
The dark grey and black paper labels were introduced around 1927. In 1933 the silver and gold foil labels were introduced. It is important to note that Roseville pottery produced during the period from 1927 to 1935 was not marked with any of the Roseville stamped trademarks introduced after 1936.
