     Let's look at the doc for that method:

     public virtual Azure.AsyncPageable<T> QueryAsync<T> (string filter = default, int? maxPerPage = default, System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<string> select = default, System.Threading.CancellationToken cancellationToken = default) where T : class, Azure.Data.Tables.ITableEntity, new();

     See that generic type constraint:

     where T : class, Azure.Data.Tables.ITableEntity, new();

     That means that any T you pass in must be a class, must implement ITableEntity, and must have a parameterless constructor.

     However, your method doesn't enforce this. You only require that T implements ITableStorageEntity. Your method could theoretically accept something which implements ITableStorageEntity but isn't a class, or doesn't have a parameterless constructor, and pass it to Azure's QueryAsync<T>, and then what? You've broken the rules!

     Your method needs to have the same generic type constraints as QueryAsync<T>, or tighter:

     public async Task<IList<T>> QueryAsync<T>(string queryText, CancellationToken cancellationToken) where T : class, ITableStorageEntity, new()-

     You can't create a Nullable<> out of any type. As the compiler tells you, you can only do that for value types. Since the method isn't restricted to any type, it can't say for sure you won't pass it, let's say, an object.

     What you want isn't possible, actually, as explained in this question and its answer.

     And by the way, T isn't a nullable type by definition, so default(T) will become a non-null value in the case of value types. string is on object, so it can be null without the use of Nullable<T>.

     Use string instead of string? in all places in your code.

     The Nullable<T> type requires that T is a non-nullable value type, for example int or DateTime. Reference types like string can already be null. There would be no point in allowing things like Nullable<string> so it is disallowed.

     Also if you are using C# 3.0 or later you can simplify your code by using auto-implemented properties:

     public class WordAndMeaning{ public string Word { get; set; } public string Meaning { get; set; }}-

     Without specify T for .post() [Overload #14], it will return Observable<Object> value.

     From post() [Overload #15], you have to specify T for example post<T>(), so that it will return Observable<T> value.

     Solution

     Assumption: The response returned is IUser type.

     • Specify T as IUser or any type to solve the error mentioned.
     • As @Gunnar's comment, you have to use tap instead of map to perform the operation from the source observable without altering it.Using map must return a value for Observable.
