Jul 17, 2018 · The 2018 revision of the Yellow Book is effective for financial audits, attestation engagements, and reviews of financial statements for periods ending on or after June 30, 2020, and for performance audits beginning on or after July 1, 2019.
The 2018 Yellow Book can be accessed on the GAO Yellow Book Web page; or you can access the PDF file directly. Paper editions are expected to be available for sale via the Government Publishing Office in Fall 2018. • Printed version will be a larger size book than usual.
In July 2018, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released an updated version of the Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) as a follow-on to a 2017 exposure draft. These standards help frame both the auditor’s expectations on the scope of engagement and the agency’s expectations when developing the audit contract or agreement.
