Dig the hole 2 to 3 inches shallower than the depth of the root ball or container, so that the tree is planted 2 to 3 inches higher than it was growing in the nursery.
Its name comes from the ‘buckeyes,’ a small, dark brown nut with a light patch resembling the eye of a deer, which grows inside a rounded prickly fruit capsule. This species is susceptible to leaf blotch.
