Now, in the final standoff between Vicious and Spike, all the loose ends are tied. Vicious is dead, Julia is dead. After saying goodbye to Jet and Faye, he doesn't have a reason to live anymore.
Jul 22, 2024 · Vicious arrives at the scene after Spike has escaped, finding evidence of Julia's death and realizing that Spike no longer has anything left to lose. Spike returns to the Bebop one last time, having a moment with Jet, and then with Faye.
In refusing to let Julia go, Spike is ultimately saved on a spiritual level. He dies happy and achieves a soul's ultimate purpose. Meanwhile, Faye is left crying alone.

Spike no longer felt a need to live after losing Julia, and all that was left for him to do was avenge her by killing his rival. With Vicious dead, Spike finally came to terms with his past and could die in peace.
