William R. Stewart (October 29, 1864 – April 5, 1958) was a lawyer and state legislator in Ohio. He served in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Elected to the Ohio House in 1895, Stewart was the first African American attorney and legislator from Youngstown. As State Representative, he supported Henry Clay Smith's anti-mob violence legislation, a bill targeting lynching.
The William R. Stewart Lecture was established in 2007 and is supported by the William R. Stewart Memorial Fund for Labor and Employment Law. Stewart, a native of Terre Haute, Indiana, was awarded a BA degree in Government, from Indiana University in 1954.
