    The pilot was tested on January 28th, 2006 with the host Angus Deayton and team captains David Mitchell and Alan Carr. The title originally was Pants on Fire and later renamed to Unbelievable, promoted as such in the BBC press pack of Winter/Spring 2007. It was renamed to Would I Lie to Youby the time Series 1 aired.

    The first series comprised of six regular episodes and was won by David Mitchell's team three episodes to two with one episode resulting in a draw.
    The second series comprised of eight regular episodes and one highlights episode, the series was also won by Mitchell's team five episodes to three.
