Rowan spent two years in FCW/NXT before being moved to the main roster alongside Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt as part of the Wyatt Family. After a main roster run that lasted from 2013 to 2020, Rowan was released by WWE on April 15 as part of the company-wide cutbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2011, Ruud signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). He made his FCW debut on April 14, 2011 under the ring name Erick Rowan, where he and Buck Dixon defeated the team of DeSean Bishop and DT Porter in a tag team match.
