For example, in survey studies, insomnia is defined by a positive response to either question, “Do you experience difficulty sleeping?” or “Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?”
The first part of this article reviews the epidemiology and pathophysiology of insomnia with a focus on vulnerable patient groups. The second part explores the rapidly evolving landscape of nondrug therapy for insomnia.
