She is the daughter of NBA star Norm Nixon and actress Debbie Allen, as well as the niece of Phylicia Rashad. She has been the associate director at Debbie Allen Dance Academy.
She entered the entertainment industry in musical theater, playing Kalimba in Hot Feet on Broadway. Other stage credits include the role of Anita in West Side Story and the title character in Pearl.
