Aug 5, 2023 · Kat Bjelland formed the band in 1987 with drummer Lori Barbero after Bjelland moved to Minneapolis and met Barbero at a barbeque. From there, the band hired bassist Maureen Herman. Babes in Toyland released their debut, Spanking Machine, in 1989 and their most notable album, Fontanelle, in 1992.
