    • Switzerland. Switzerland is No. 1 in the Best Countries rankings for the second consecutive year and sixth year overall. The small Central European country finished first in the open for business subranking.
    • Canada. The United States’ neighbor to the north, Canada supplants Germany this year as the No. 2-ranked country. Its highest subranking finish came in agility at No. 2, but it also lands in the top 5 in three other subrankings, including quality of life.
    • Sweden. The highest-ranked Scandinavian country, Sweden moved up two spots from its No. 5 performance in 2022. It boasts No. 1 performances in two subrankings, social purpose and quality of life, and top 10 finishes in three others.
    • Australia. New Zealand’s neighbor in Oceania also rose three spots year over year in the overall rankings. But Australia’s jump put it in the top 5, with top 10 finishes in four subrankings, including No. 3 in agility.
