Jul 10, 2023 · FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Steve McDaniel, Mayor Tom Henry, community representatives, and public officials dedicated a new paved pedestrian trail and picnic shelter at Buckner Park today.
“This 200-acre park provides a natural area for city dwellers to escape the everyday hustle and bustle and commune with nature,” said Mayor Henry. “But it also provides a great new facility available for families, including a large playground, a splash pad and a pavilion with restrooms.”

Oct 7, 2006 · The ribbon-cutting ceremony highlighted some of Buckner Park’s unique geographical areas including grass prairies, wetland, stream crossings, woodlands and vistas. This ¾ mile trail to the new picnic shelter will wind through these areas and offer bench seating made from recycled materials at scenic spots.
