Welcome to Continental Chess! We have organized chess tournaments from coast to coast since the 1960s, open to players of all ages, from beginners to Grandmasters. Most include sections in which less experienced players face only each other.
This site is for some of the major chess tournaments that are run by the Continental Chess Association. The Continental Chess Association runs a lot of tournaments each year (much more than just the ones on this website) and you can view a list of them at their Upcoming Tournaments Page.

CCA has held over 2300 chess tournaments in 28 states, DC, and the Bahamas, and has awarded over $24,000,000 in prize money without ever reneging on a guaranteed prize. For many years, more players have competed in CCA tournaments than those of any other chess organizer in the USA.
Bring a set and board to every tournament, plus a chess clock if you have one. We supply no equipment. However, there is a book seller at most tournaments who also sells sets, boards, and clocks. At some of our tournaments for inexperienced players, not enough players provide clocks, and an occasional game must be played without one.
