The Spanish royal family, a branch of the House of Bourbon, is headed by King Felipe VI, and currently consists of Queen Letizia, their children Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía of Spain, and Felipe's parents, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía.
The Spanish monarchy is constitutionally referred to as The Crown (Spanish: La Corona), and it comprises the reigning monarch, his or her royal family, and the Royal Household, which supports and facilitates the sovereign in the exercise of his duties and prerogatives.
After completing his academic studies in the United States, Felipe fulfilled the institutional commitments deriving from his status as Crown Prince, both in Spain and abroad, and he participates in the most important events of the different sectors and areas of Spanish public life.
