Édgar Enrique Rentería Herazo ( Spanish pronunciation: [ˈeðɣaɾ renteˈɾi.a]; born August 7, 1975), nicknamed " the Barranquilla Baby ", [1] is a Colombian former professional baseball shortstop. He threw and batted right-handed.
As a 34-year-old, he hit a go-ahead home run in the decisive Game Five en route to winning World Series MVP. Between his first and last World Series, Renteria established himself as the best-ever major-league player from Colombia and one of the best shortstops of his era.
