FEMA has made updates to the functionality of the revised Elevation Certificate and Floodproofing Certificate and posted new versions of the forms. You may access the updated forms on the FEMA website at National Flood Insurance Program Underwriting Forms | FEMA.gov.
Elevation Certificates (ECs) help inform mitigation actions that will lower flood risk. For example, the EC shows the location of the building, Lowest Floor Elevation, building characteristics, and flood zone.
The Elevation Certificate provides a way for a community to document compliance with the community's floodplain management ordinance. Use of this certificate does not provide a waiver of the flood insurance purchase requirement.
