While releasing after the Dark Souls games started, few Kinect titles had a worthwhile reception, and Steel Battalion was no exception.

This downloadable game was more puzzle-oriented than the series' standard fare. The overhead gameplay feels like a mix between Bomberman and the old Metal Gear games.

Give the Xbox's small Japanese install base, one should not expect strong sales from this exclusive title. It didn't help that it received lackluster reviews upon release, either.

The removal of any story mode proved controversial, something reflected in the lukewarm critical response. Without a developing narrative, the gameplay loop quickly grows tiresome.

The quirky gameplay of this survival horrortitle found favor with some gamers. The developer always had a tinge of horror in their games, but this one makes terrifying gamers its ultimate goal.

Evergrace isn't as fondly remembered as other PS2 launch titles. Related: 10 Exclusive Launch Titles That Defined Their Console Its unique features couldn't make people forget its repetitive and uninteresting combat.

The last Armored Core on the PS2 did not reach impressive critical highs. Complaints were lobbied at its extreme difficultyand reliance on trial and error.

Some of FromSoftware's output is strange, and the Echo Night series proves this reputation. A science-fiction ghost story following two newlyweds sounds more like a mad libs session than a game concept.

One sees some DNA from King's Fieldin the Souls genre, only this series was in first-person and extremely slow-paced. It has compelling ideas, but the combat is sluggish and uninteresting.

Another first-person RPG and PS2 launch title, Eternal Ringfailed to impress thanks to some jank from what some reviewers perceived as a rushed development.

    • Elden Ring (PlayStation 5) - 96. Elden Ring is arguably one of their most hyped releases. The studio has finally decided to tinker around with the concept of an open world, which is perfect given FromSoftware's penchant for creating an amazing world with immaculate-level design.
    • Bloodborne (PlayStation 4) - 92. It seems Bloodborne succeeded as a new IP to FromSoftware fans better than Sekiro. The title seems like a middle ground between the Souls series and Sekiro.
    • Dark Souls 2 (Xbox 360) - 91. Critic and user scores differ by at least double digits for all versions of Dark Souls 2. This is no surprise considering it is often referred to as the worst entry in the Souls series by fans.
    • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (Xbox One) - 91. Overall user and critic scores on Sekiro differ by at least 10 points on each version. It’s hard to say whether this is because it is just not a Souls game, or because fans aren’t genuinely happy with how the game turned out compared to critics.
