Mary, Princess Royal (Victoria Alexandra Alice Mary; 25 April 1897 – 28 March 1965) was a member of the British royal family. She was the only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, the sister of Kings Edward VIII and George VI, and aunt of Elizabeth II.

The six children of George V (1865-1936) and Mary of Teck (1867-1953) all lived to maturity except the youngest, Prince John. The eldest son, David (1894-1972), became King Edward VIII and ruled for less than a year when he abdicated the throne to marry Mrs. Simpson, an American divorcee.
