Haguenau (French: ⓘ; Alsatian: Hàwenau [ˈhaːvənau̯] or Hàjenöi [ˈhaːjənœi̯]; German: Hagenau; historical English: Hagenaw) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department of France, of which it is a sub-prefecture. It is second in size in the Bas-Rhin only to Strasbourg, some 30 km (19 mi) to the south.
Haguenau is a town with many monuments from the 16th to 18th centuries, two museums and a large forest nearby. It is located in the Grand-Est region, about 30 kilometres north of Strasbourg, and has a rich cultural heritage and leisure opportunities.

The town developed in the 12th century around a castle on an island in the river and was a favourite residence of the Holy Roman emperor Frederick I.
