Jul 28, 2021 · Infomercials and Shark Tank produce some super handy products. We've rounded up the best as-seen-on-TV products that customers swear by. You'll wonder how you ever managed without these!
- THE POCKET FISHERMAN. The history of pitching unusual gadgets on television can be traced back to Samuel Jacob Popeil, known as S.J. to his family and friends.
- GINSU KNIVES. Despite their Japanese-sounding name, Ginsu knives were originally manufactured in Fremont, Ohio (the plant has since moved to Arkansas).
- LIFECALL. “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” LifeCall, a medical alert system, inadvertently launched a successful catchphrase in the late 1980s, thanks to stand-up comics and radio DJs endlessly poking fun at it.
- FLOWBEE. The Flowbee was invented by a carpenter named Rick Hunts. One day on the job he happened to notice how efficient his shop vacuum was at removing sawdust from his hair.
- Super Bright Switch. Not to say that it’s bleeding-edge technology, but something like the Super Bright Switch wouldn’t have been possible—or just wouldn’t have been any good—before the advent of LEDs.
- Gorilla Ties. Like zip ties but better, Gorilla Ties are not only super-strong and durable, they’re also reusable. Each tie can hold up to 200 pounds (think hanging bikes in the garage, corralling heavy hoses and cords in the shed, hanging houseplants from the ceiling, and so on), and you can twist and untwist them time and time again.
- ShamWow. You have to give it up for ShamWow: Very few as-seen-on-TV products—really, very few products of any sort—reach such lofty levels of fame, ever.
- Beyond Bright Garage Light. Do you need more light in the garage, basement, or attic but don’t want to hardwire in an additional fixture? Replace any standard 60-watt garage bulb with Ontel’s Beyond Bright LED Garage Light, which has three adjustable LED panels so you can aim its 3,500 lumens of white light just where you need it.

Jun 19, 2024 · From the early days of the infomercial as far back as the widespread dominance of QVC in the 2000s, some of these products have since become household names. Here are eight such products that had us in a chokehold thanks to their persuasive advertising and, perhaps, a tad of curiosity on our part.
